PhD positions available: NO
Research Area: Protein Structure and Function
Research Interests: Our group wants to understand the role of mitochondrial proteases in the maintenance of the mitochondrial proteome. We use yeast, mammalian and patient cells to investigate the pathophysiological consequences of dysfunctions in these proteases that result in severe neurodegenerative diseases and cardiomyopathies.

Education & Training: 2007-2011: PhD thesis, University of Freiburg, Lab of Chris Meisinger
2002-2007: Diploma in Molecular Medicine, University of Freiburg
Employment & Experience: since 2016: Emmy-Noether group leader, University of Freiburg
2011-2016: Postdoc, University of Freiburg, Lab of Chris Meisinger
2010-2011: Research Internship, La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia, Lab of Mike Ryan

Honors and Awards:

2016: AcademiaNet member (nominated by the DFG)
2016: Emmy-Noether grant of the DFG
2014: EMBO short-term fellowship
2014: Elite postdoc fellowship of the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung
